When I compose a text message in TBird to send, it starts a new line after __ characters. I want it to occupy the entire screen width, and set it to show me a larger font. I recall there is a way, but searching has not turned it up. Would appreciate pointers to both settings.

Whenever I open a message from the inbox into its own window, the message text and images are tiny and unreadable until I zoom (Shift-Cmd-+) them larger. And when I reply to a message, the text is also starts out tiny, but gets larger when I Zoom it up with the original message. Similarly, the column-header icons of the inbox are tiny, while the text is OK.

All the rest of the interface is normal and readable, except for the tiny text and buttons in the interface-command/confirmation boxes.

I have experimented with the suggestions in these question-replies, but to no avail:

I can adjust the font size and density from the "hamburger menu", just fine. And the MacOS 15.3.n-on-Intel settings seem right.

What am I missing? What else is there to change?

I'd be happy with an answer, but I offer a possible solution. Can someone tell me whether it will work?

When more than one copy of an iMap account exists, there is a problem with Junk mail learning. Namely, the learning only occurs on the computer where the user declares mail to be Junk, not on other copies of the same iMap account. It has been suggested that Training.dat be copied from one account to another, but that wipes out any training that has occurred on the copies that receive the new Training.dat file. A merge is needed.

So... Does THIS work? Go to the Junk folder and select all mail in it. Mark all the mail as Junk (seemingly redundantly). Unless Thunderbird makes a special case of NOT learning from marking mail as Junk when it already is, this ought to work, right?

Hello helpful community, Yesterday after first updating my mac ios, I updated Thunderbird (as directed) on my macbook pro and discovered that my local folders are gone. I now have version 128.7.0esr. I have read other conversations here about this problem but they are WAY over my head, and seem to do with PCs. Can you help me restore my local folders with instructions I can hopefully understand? I am experiencing problems setting up a Thunderbird IMAP connection with a privateemail.com account. Incoming server settings seem to work correctly. I can receive messages, but I cannot send them. I have followed privateemail.com’s setup instructions exactly:

Outgoing Server Settings: Server mail.privateemail.com Port 465 Username [myaccount] Connetion SSL/TLS Password [mypassword]

privateemail.com does not appear to have any support beyond posted documentation. Has anyone who uses privateemail.com figured out how to set up a working privateemail.com outgoing account connection?

How do I report an issue with the way NVDA and Thunderbird interact? When I tab, I can't out of a link, and the focus does not move. If I tab to a link in a message then arrow down, I am where I expect, but then if I go to the top of the message, the tab focus remains where it was when I last hit the tab key. This is not standard behavior, but everyone else I've talked to seems to think it's behaving normally and has no tips for me on how to fix it.

Hello When I upgraded my Kubuntu 20 to 24 recently, I lost Internet access. So I installed Kubuntu 22 and upgraded to Kubuntu 24 which restored my Internet access. Consequently I am now trying to restore my emails in Thunderbird from my last backup. It took me while to realize that relevant Thunderbird profiles.ini wasn't the one in the Home > hidden .thunderbird Rather the profiles.ini is in Home > snap >thunderbird > common> .thunderbird That snap fooled me for a while ! So documentation doesn't mention snap, anyway I found it eventually. Also some documentation mentions profile.ini whereas it is actually profiles.ini ... plural. Sorry to be niggly. So now my profiles.ini looks like this: [Profile1]

I discovered that putting y72gpdv6.default from my backup in the code block at the top like that enables me to see most of my emails when I run Thunderbird. There are 4 blocks of code. Could you please tell me that the blocks do? There are 3 defaults, in fact 1 default and 2 default-releases. What is the purpose of the 2 default-releases? Should I change them, for example replace them with something from my backup? Naturally I want to be sure that I have recovered everything. My original profiles.ini only has 3 blocks of code. Of course, I considered just replacing the new profiles.ini with the original profiles.ini from my last backup, BUT the new profiles.ini has 4 blocks of code instead of 3, hence I'm trying to understand how profiles.ini works. I get the error message shown in the attached screenshot when downloading my emails from outlook.com to a local folder called "DAD". Some messages get filtered, some not. Those that don't get filtered successfully remain in the Inbox, but a message with empty content does appear in the local folder, and cannot be deleted or moved. Re-running the message filters manually will moved the affected messages across, but the "corrupt" message remains in the target folder and cannot be deleted or moved.

The drive that the folders are located on is my data drive, which has c 250gb of unused spaced. WIndows 11, Thunderbird 128.6.1 (64-bit), installed a few days ago when I moved from another machine.

ADDENDUM: Compacting the folder does not help either!

Has no-one come across this recently? - I have come across some old posts, the suggested solutions for which do not apply.

Dear Team After Updating from 102.15.1 (32Bit) to 115.28.0 (32Bit) I can not connect to the provider "pop.hispeed.ch" anymore. Ping pop.hispeed.ch (on CMD) shows normal raction of beeing reachable with a "reply from xxxx.". I am on Windows 7 SP1. I have checked several times all setting POP and SMTP, switched off Firewall, uninstalled virus scanner, and and and many more (all knowledge found on internet..). Pressing the "Get Message" button in the upper menue bar shows no raction when pressed. The icon "Get Message" on the left side of the button "+ New Message" results in a none moving blue status bar at the right bottom of the window. After a while with the message "timed out.. ".In the settings "Config Editor.." the values of "mailnews.tcptimeout" are set to "300", and "true". I am using TB since donkey years with many many eMails. Are the lost? I have 2 Thunderbird accounts running on 3 different computers. The passwords were last changed in Oct 2020 and both have been running fine until today. One is still without problems but the other starting today will not log-in. A window pops up with the following message: "Login to server mail.server310.com with username randy@johnstonfam.org failed." One computer is running W10 and the other 2 W11 and I have the same problem on all 3. I have Thunderbird ver 128.8.0esr, 64 bit. I checked and the password is correct. I tried re-entering it to no avail. Please help to get this account running again. NOTE: The other email address is Randy@RJohnstonAppraisals.com

I have windows 10 with 4 Email accounts on my desktop computer. One is TB using ee.net 3rd party provider, two are TB using Gmail and one using Outlook. The Gmail accounts and Outlook work ok. The remaining account with ee.net has been a problem for weeks now. It will not install. EE.net says NOT their problem because all Emails are received and sent OK on their webmail server. They will not help further. I cannot find what is at fault, TB, ee.net or both.

I can't create an IMAP account even though ee.net says their server handles POP3 and IMAP. After long trial-error, POP3 installed manually but sending/receiving messages has server errors. Incoming: mail.ee.net port 110, no security, password insecure. Outgoing: SMTP.mail.ee.net port 587 ssl/tls Auth2 Messages to it have "server refused" error & messages sent say "outgoing SMTP server failed".

Here's the biggest mystery: At one time I found a "magic combination" where all at once everything started working and all waiting messages suddenly downloaded. However, without changing anything, an hour later it returned to earlier non-working condition. It did that once before when I logged out of the ee.net web site and then logged back in. It then asked me for the password again and when I did that, everything started working but quit a day later.

Re-entering the ee.net password again didn't fix it. So, now I ask, how can a fix work only temporarily??? I've chased this problem for weeks now.

Hello! I have used Thunderbird for many years. Lately, it waits much too long to prompt compacting all accounts. When "Compact all folders when it will save over ..." is set down to 1MB total, it still does not prompt until it has to clear 30 or 40 MB.

It didn't do this in the past, prompting me every 2 or 3 days at higher settings. So, I'm curious if this is "normal" now and I need to manually compact, or if there is a problem with 'Account Settings > Disk Space > Compact all folders' ... ?
